The 6-day Cusco tour offers a complete and diverse experience. On the first day, you will embark on a City Tour, starting with airport reception and transfer to the hotel for acclimatization. In the afternoon, you will visit the Temple of Koricancha, the Temple of Sacsayhuaman with its impressive polished stones, Qenqo with its center of worship to the Puma god, Puca Pucara with its red fortress, and the Temple of Tambomachay dedicated to the cult of water.
On the second day, you will visit Maras, a traditional town with beautiful views of the Andean mountains, and the Salt Mines, followed by the Archaeological Complex of Moray with its concentric agricultural terraces.
The third day is dedicated to a tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the picturesque town of Pisac, having lunch in another town, and exploring the Inca city of Ollantaytambo. Then, you will take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo to spend the night.
On the fourth day, you will visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu with a guide, exploring temples, plazas, and astronomical centers. After the visit, you have the option to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain. Later, you will return to Aguas Calientes by bus and take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer to Cusco for an overnight stay.
The fifth day includes an excursion to the Rainbow Mountain, starting early in the morning and enjoying the natural scenery and stunning colors of the Peruvian Andes. After the hike, you will return to Cusco for a lunch.
On the sixth day, breakfast is provided at the hotel, and you will be transferred out according to your flight schedule.
Day 1: Welcome to Cusco + CITY TOUR
- Airport reception.
- Transfer to your selected hotel, allowing time to acclimatize to the altitude.
- In the afternoon, around 1:00 p.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to begin the city tour.
- The tour includes visits to:
- Temple of Koricancha, an important precinct that houses the finest examples of Inca architecture and was dedicated to the worship of the sun god “Inti.”
- Sacsayhuaman Temple, strategically located with panoramic views of the city of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman is famous for its enormous polished and molded stones, some of which are 9m/30ft tall and weigh 350 tons. These massive stones were precisely fitted together.
- Qenqo, a center of worship dedicated to the god Puma and the site of religious sacrifices.
- Puca Pucara, known as the “red fortress” due to the color of its rocks at twilight. It was considered an Inca military center.
- Tambomachay Temple, a site used for water worship.
- Return to the Plaza de Armas (main square) and overnight stay in Cusco.
Day 2: Maras (Salt Mines) - Moray
- Around 8:15 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to start the excursion.
- We will head towards the town of Maras, enjoying the beautiful Andean landscape. It’s a journey that connects you with the traditional essence of the region.
- Maras is a traditional, colonial, and republican town known as the “city of doorways.” From the Maras plateau, you can admire the whimsical formations of the Andean mountain range, including snow-capped peaks like La Verónica.
- Near the traditional town of Maras, we will visit the Salt Mines, which consist of small pools (over 3500 of them) where salt is obtained through the process of evaporation. These salt mines have been exploited since pre-Inca times.
- Next, we will visit the Moray Archaeological Complex, located 7 km from Maras. It is a set of enormous terraces that overlap concentrically. Its purpose was to serve as an agricultural experimentation center and a site related to fertility.
Day 3: Sacred Valley Tour
- Around 7:50 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco.
- We will depart from the city and head towards the natural storehouse of the Incas, exploring parts of the sacred river, Vilcanota or Urubamba. This day will give you the opportunity to experience the customs of the local inhabitants.
- During our tour, we will visit the picturesque colonial mestizo town of Pisac. This town is also home to one of the Inca cities that attracts many visitors.
- Next, we will proceed to another village for lunch, where you will enjoy a meal prepared with local products.
- Our next stop is Ollantaytambo, known as the “Living Inca City.” This city was constructed with the purpose of administration and defense against possible invasions. After visiting this important site, you will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the town and gain a clear understanding of its urban layout.
- Finally, we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train that will take us to the town of Machu Picchu.
- Around 7:00 p.m., we will depart on the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes).
- Around 8:45 p.m., we will arrive in Machu Picchu Pueblo and transfer you to your hotel. You will spend the night in Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes).
Day 4: Machu Picchu
- After a good rest in the town of Machu Picchu and receiving instructions from our guide regarding the visit to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, we will head to the bus station.
- The bus will take us on a 45-minute journey, ascending 400 meters in altitude, to reach the awe-inspiring wonder of the world, Machu Picchu.
- Upon arriving at the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, we will begin our guided tour, lasting approximately 3 hours. Our guide will take us to the most important places, including temples, plazas, astronomical centers, and other sectors.
- After the guided tour, there is an optional opportunity to ascend the Huayna Picchu mountain, with an additional entrance ticket.
- After exploring the Inca city and its surroundings, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes and then board the train back to Ollantaytambo.
- Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, our transfer will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco.
- You will spend the night in Cusco.
Day 5: Rainbow Mountain
- Our experience will begin with a hotel pickup at 4:30 am. We will then head south to enjoy the natural wonder.
- We will arrive at Cusipata to have breakfast and recharge our energy before conquering the Vinicunca mountain.
- After this break, we will continue in our transportation to the starting point of our hike, which will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain, is located at an altitude of 5100 meters (16,700 feet). It boasts natural and magnificent colors that are part of the Peruvian Andes. Let’s explore the natural beauty with its spectacular mountain views and unique fauna.
- After enjoying the scenery and creating unforgettable memories, we will return along the same trail to board our transportation and head back to Cusipata for lunch.
- Finally, we will be back in Cusco.
Day 6: Last Day
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Transfer to the airport at the appropriate time, depending on your flight schedule.
- End of service.
