Descripción:
Lake Titicaca is a freshwater lake located in the Andes Mountains, on the border between Peru and Bolivia. It is one of the largest lakes in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world, with an altitude of over 3,800 meters above sea level.
In Lake Titicaca, there are several islands, with the most well-known being the Uros Floating Islands, which are constructed with totora, a plant that grows on the lake’s shores. Additionally, the lake is home to other inhabited islands, such as the Island of the Sun and the Island of the Moon, which have important archaeological sites and are considered sacred places by the pre-Hispanic cultures that inhabited the region.
Lake Titicaca is home to a great diversity of animal and plant species, including several endemic species. Furthermore, the region surrounding the lake has a rich ancestral culture and is home to various indigenous communities that maintain their traditions and customs.
